Magazine subscriptions for troops

Had a young man come to the door to sell magazine subscriptions. The magazines would be sent to our troops. My wife gave him a check for $57 and he left the house.
When I found out what had transpired, I got in the car and found the young man.

He returned my check and I told him I had checked his company on the web and it was a ripoff. He was not aware of this and was just trying to make "points"; whatever that meant.

Normally we would not contribute to door-to-door people but the kid looked so innocent and my wife felt like she was helping him.
