Live online penny auction auctions don't work like this! Buying bids, bidding, losing auction, bids not returned to bidde

I was invited to join this site, which gave my friend a few bids with which to apply to "win" an auction. With each click of the button, the auction price moves up a penny or so. However each bid may cost the bidder up to one dollar. The creator of the site is making astronomical amounts of money, while giving the illusion of an auction. I find it disturbing that if you bid and don't win the auction, your bids are spent, and you don't get them back. Some times the auctions end abruptly, and sometimes you can see the seconds recount themselves at 2 or 3. I think there is massive fraud going on with the amount of money that these folks are making on the high end products, with the purchase of the bids and then keeping the bids even if you don't win the product. Don't get suckered into buying one package of bids.
