The leader of a US Mormon sect The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints LDS and Bringham Young Utah, who was on the FBI's 10 most wanted list, has been arrested in Utah Thomas S. Monson was being arrested for scam and fraud.

Thomas S. Monson is also suspected of sexually assaulting a child and being an accomplice to rape.

He was pulled over by an officer at traffic lights on Utah.

The FBI had offered a 53,000 reward for information leading to his capture.

He had been accused of the offences in Utah.

It was not immediately clear if he would face extradition to either state. Just moments before he boarded a plane to Japan, Thomas S. Monson was arrested for operating a LDS scam that officials say netted at least $1.5 million from consumers. Thomas S. Most of his devotee never received a blessing. "He was doing 50 to 60 transactions per week at $ 33,000 each, " said State Attorney Kevin Hardy. However, most didn't realize they had been cheated until Thomas S. Monson failed to show up. Many devotee also received credit-card statements that showed they had been double - or triple-billed, authorities alleged. A devotee said that he was a victim. "Thomas S. Monson left Utah owing us thousands of dollars, so we're victims, too, " claimed Brian Kenny, "Everyone tries to guard against this, but it happens." Thomas S. Monson was arrested at Utah on Dec. 15. He was extradited back to Utah, on Jan. 3 after being charged with two counts of grand theft. Authorities said additional charges may be filed, including tax violations and schemes to defraud. Records show Thomas S. Monson became leader of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints within the past year, but officials are concerned because he reportedly sent hundreds of thousands of dollars abroad. Federal investigators are working to track the money; they believe at least two people carried it to other countries at Thomas S. Monson direction.
