George Friar Internet Time Share Sale Scam

A George Friar, who said he was a Finance Mgr., of Coastal Premier Vacation Solutions in Boca Raton, FL called around 5:30 PM today with a guaranteed offer to buy my timeshare I have with Blue Green in Branson, Mo. He said his company is a "For Sale By Owner" company that finds timeshares for folks who come to them. He didn't have very specific information on my timeshare but said they had researched it and had offered it for sale for $16980 to a family who had a 20% down payment ready - if I would agree to the sale. CPVS would overnight a contract to me via FedEx. I had 7 days to look it over, sign it, and send it back to them. Once they had the signed contract they would send the purchase agreement, signed by the buyers, to me to sign and return. No time limit here though! Then, all I had to do was wait for the $16980 check to come in the mail. He said CPVS didn't charge listing fees to the seller because they made their money on the financing of the sale to the buyers.

Ah, however, I would have to pay a $1388.54 legal retainer fee tonight, via CC, before they could send the contract to me! The legal retainer fee was for a thorough title search to see that my timeshare was not in foreclosure. But, the $1388.54 would be credited back to my CC the same time CPVS sent me the sale proceeds!

George said he would email me a copy of a voided out contract to view and then call me back. While he was emailing me, I "Googled" CPVS on the internet. The very first item that popped up was a story nearly like my experience tonight. When George called back to go over the voided contract I told him I was reading about his scamming company on the internet. He was quick to end the conversation but left an invitation to call his company if I should change my mind about selling.

I have had probably a dozen calls like this over the past month from different companies! George's company had called at least six times the past five days because their phone number was in my phones' caller ID list.
