Changing payment due date on my account in mid stream with no notification, causing late charges, interest not due etc

I simply need to talk with a customer service representative from JC Penneys.
My account got behind the first part of the year due to several reasons. Being on a fixed income and unforseen financial hardships, JC Penneys changing my payment due date in mid stream with no prior notification so that I would be late and charged late charges and interest that was not due. I am homebound, had been very sick, in the hospital, etc., did not receive my disability income for the month and just about anything you can think of during the past few months. Now JC Penneys has turned my account over to a collection agency and will not allow me to talk with anybody at JC Penneys.
I have had a Penneys credit card for about 40 years and have always paid it. I can't believe they can be so rude as to not notify me about the payment date. There is no way that I can pay the full balance now, and want to ask Penneys to consider taking the account back, let me get my account balance current (I can do that now), pay JC Penneys instead of some noncaring finance company. Do I not have the right to at least speak to someone at Penneys? I have never heard of such? As I said, I am homebound, in ill health, near indigent, but I do want to do the right thing. I do think Penneys owes me some kind of compensation for what they did about getting my account so far behind by changing the payment due date with no notification. This is all I can do. My medications and medical expenses will not allow me to borrow money and pay the full account balance.
Please write me and let me know about talking to someone in your customer service department about just what has happened. I know I should have paid some before now, but I have not had it. I have just now finally gotten back on my feet a bit so that I can make my monthly payments,, that is if the payment due date is not changed and the late charge, which is more than my payment, is not added every month.
