Leasetrader.com
Ripping customers off by hiding fees in fine print pop-ups

Miscellaneous

THE USUAL BAIT AND SWITCH — leasetrader.com hides additional fees in "[popup windows' hoping the consumer will be fooled... The costs are higher than they first appear: membership fees "lease transfer fee" charged by leasetrader.Co "lease takeover fees" charged by the leasing company" — leasetrader.com hides fees in a popup "terms and conditions" box instead of publishing them on its front page — they charged me a membership fee, and then, 3 months after the fact, wanted a "transfer fee" of $249.95... The fee was reported as $149.95 if paid at the time of lease, but instead of charging my card on file at the time, they waited until the deal was closed then claimed I owed the whole $249.95, and threatened to report me to the credit bureaus.
