I run an aquatics camp and we planned on taking our campers to Patoka Lake to swim. We wanted to rent a 2 pontoon boats from Giiligan's Boats. The counselors are 4 nationally certified lifeguards and they would be bringing 30 kids.
First of all, we wanted to rent the boat for 4 hours. After getting the run around, we were told that we could only reserve the boat for 8 hours and even if we only used the boat for 4 hours, we had to PAY for the 8 hours.
Then we called to see if we needed a separate waiver and we finally talked to the OWNER, Kerry. He was very very VERY rude. He told us "This is not Holiday World" and told my Assistant he would not rent us the boat.
I called back and told the man that we were bringing 4 certified guards and the children would be required to wear a lifejacket the entire team. I explained that the children could all swim. He was again, very nasty and told me no.
He said he required one adult for every 2 children. This is not on the website anywhere and we had already explained to 4 different people that we were bringing camp kids without being told that we had to have a 2:1 ratio.

I even called back and told Jackie (the person that answered the phone) that I was bringing my family of 5 kids and just me and was asking questions about rentals and AGAIN, was not told I needed to have a 2:1 ratio.

Alothough I understand the owner's reluctance from a liability standpoint, the children can all swim and were to be supervised by certified guards (which is more than you get if the average person took their family out).

Unreasonable and rude. Do not spend your money here!
