Telemarketing magazines diamond watch scam 25000 sweepstakes

Miscellaneous

I worked for family readers service between February and May and within the first day I realized that I was giving the same sweepstakes finalist number to everyone I spoke to "G-459".

My script was... Hello may i speak to mr./mrs. %? Hi my name is B* from family readers service and the publisher's sweepstakes. I was calling to let you know that you've been selected and entered in our national sweepstakes for a chance to win $25,000 cash, a beautiful trip to Hawaii or a ford escape.
The sweepstakes is being held for the preferred customers of visa, mastercard, american express, and discover. Do you still carry one of those?
If yes...
I have even more terrific news for you.!!! Every year my company holds what we call an early bird drawing and you were one of the people chosen! What this means is that for participating you will receive a beautiful geneva diamond quartz watch. The watch has gold trim and a real diamond at the 12 o'clock setting and it's yours free just because you were selected so again congratulations again to you!
Along with your diamond watch we're also going to send you 3 of your favorite monthly magazines free. The magazines that the computer has selected for you are,
men: men's journal
inc magazine
GQ
women: redbook
ladies home journal
good housekeeping
we hope you enjoy these however we are going to send you an entire list of magazines we carry and if you find something you like even better just call us and we'll change these magazines free of charge.
Along with your watch and your 3 magazines we also want to send you one of our weekly magazines to increase the circulation in your area. You have a choice of rolling stone, ESPN, and TV guide. And which one of these would you like?
Ok, great now the only things the publishers are asking is that you help cover the cost of getting that weekly magazine out there to you and the cost of that one is only $3.84 a week ($2.86 ohio residents). For 60 months okay?
Now i have you down for (if it's a man) a geneva diamond quartz watch, men's journal, inc magazine, GQ and (choice of weekly mag) and the only thing we're asking for your help is that weekly magazine. And it's only $3.84 a week which averages out to just 16.65 a month ok?

Then we ask for the customer's age, correct mailing address, occupation, workplace, length time at the workplace, marital status, spouse's identical information from above and then we transfer them to our supervisor who collects the credit card information and other details and tries to get the customer to pay by either 3,4, or 6 months at a time and you can only pay credit, debit, or check by phone.

I also was reading the same script to everyone no matter what and i spoke to people who I had previously put on our "do not call list" just earlier that day.

When I asked my supervisor why we gave out the same sweepstakes finalist number to everyone he said that it was to identify our location but in my script I told everyone that the number was to identify them as who they were and let us know we were calling the right person.

I quit in the beginning of May but i found this website and was hoping to possibly warn people of this company. Do not enter into agreements with them. You are unable to cancel their rebuttal will be "We ask that you place the order without the intentions of canceling and don't forget you can still change your selections as often as you like at no charge"

They are not sending you a watch. They are never going to stop calling you. I don't believe that they even have a do not call list. Beware do not fall for this please i beg you i worked for them and i don't believe it.
