After visiting their website, reading their ads, and calling in for a first round interview we all have the same general question in mind. "WHAT?" Talk about being vague and misleading! They put all of these terms out there, "Senior Sales Rep", Senior Executive, Account Manager, etc. The truth is simple— Door to door sales until Daniel Langston wants to promote you. It doesn't matter how good you are, how hard you work, or what kind of experience you have. It truly is a SCAM! You create a little pyramid of people to work under you. I worked in Daniel's office back in the day. It wasn't until recently a friend of mine here in Memphis applied for a job and went in for a first round interview and was invited back and super skeptical of how quick the first round interview was. After coming home and doing a little bit of company research herself, she asked me what I knew about the company. I knew I had a bad experience but after googling the company name I realized just how necessary this report is! We have to make sure that other people are not getting drawn in to this big waste of time. Now, I graduated from UT with a degree in Business. I know a scheme when I see one. I just needed a job right out of college to make ends meet so I worked the commission only job as a means to an end. I learned quickly that Daniel Langston had no clue how to run a business and that Colossus Marketing Group was a complete scam. I was there to push pizza and spa certificates and run roadtrips from Arkansas to Timbuktu to make sure Philip, Rodney, and Wes could get promoted on time. There was even a guy named John from the Nashville office that came to Daniel looking for a promotion but Daniel was way too focused on something else. My friend, Helen, is currently working for Philip and she said things are going well, but everyone else I know that worked at Colossus Marketing Group quit for ONE SIMPLE REASON... It's a scam. Daniel promotes owning your own business and being your own boss, etc. But at the end of the day... It's peddling pizza certificates and running roadtrips at other people's expenses. If you do the math, you lose money every day on gas, food, and they even expect you to give the money you make away to people that you train. Not to mention, Daniel is SO condescending! You will go out in the field all day, make money, and still get an ear full because of something completely out of your control. The best advice I can give anyone in the Memphis area is to stay away. I was with the company long enough to understand the advancement opportunity and I truly believe that Smart Circle is a great company. I just know that I would NEVER work in the Memphis office. It has too much working against it and Daniel DOES NOT have your best interest. Just ask Wes. Ask his first assistant manager. I don't know the guy's name, but I know he's from Nashville and that he quit because he knew he wasn't going anywhere. I remember my leader Philip was about to get promoted and Daniel told him that he could not expand with Wes even though Philip wanted to. Daniel is way too focused on making quick money and will step on anyone that he needs to in the way. I always enjoyed Rodney Wes and Philip and I just hope that the 3 of them aren't running their company the same way CMG is. The overall concept is good, but this is not the job that you think it is. Definitely think before you apply.
