Late Payments

Valero claims they "do not hold any checks, ' when received. I electronically paid a bill Dec, 4th (Friday). Union Bank mailed a paper check Monday the 7th. Valero posted it December 19th. It was due December 12th. We learned from the bank that Valero typically holds "mailed checks" for 7 to 10 days before "posting."
Unless you make an immediate payment upon receipt of your bill, you are almost guaranteed to end up owing Valero a "late fee." What a stinking way to gouge their customers.
