Scam The bait and switch

I posted this same thing to the BBB. I thought I would share it in as many places as I could so that people may avoid making the same mistake. Last July I was solicited by Pinnacle Security to change service from ADT to Pinnacle. I had got back from Iraq not to long before and my wife had upsetting issues with the ADT monitoring service while I was away and their failure to call my house and send the police when my alarm went off in the middle of the night. I of course was eager to switch but was unsure which provider I should go with. They also told me that they were specifically looking for ADT monitored houses to solicit to change to Pinnacle. I told Pinnacle about the poor monitoring service I had received from ADT and they agreed and sold me on Pinnacle, I signed a contract with them.

May 09, I get a letter from ADT about how I sent my payment to the wrong place. I call them up to tell them I don't have service with them and that's how I found out they sold my contract to ADT. I attempted to cancel my contract but was told I would be charged over 700 dollars if I did. I went with Pinnacle specifically because of the poor ADT monitoring service. I was paying an additional 10 dollars more per month for the service with Pinnacle which has carried over and now I'm paying it to ADT. I had no cancellation fees at the time I cancelled ADT service and now I'm going to be charged over 700 to cancel now since I signed a contract with Pinnacle. I'm not sure how this can even be legal. I know there are contract laws that apply to mergers but this is ridiculous and a scam. Pinnacle knew they were going to sell to ADT and were just scamming me to pay an additional $10 per month and a renewed contract that I now can't break without cancellation fees to ADT. I was sold a contract by Pinnacle specifically because I am completely unsatisfied with ADT and now they are monitoring me for more than I was originally paying in the first place.

I would avoid pinnacle and ADT. I filled a claim with the BBB on ADT try try and get my service canceled without paying the cancellation fees but they just regurgitated contract law to justify the scam that took place. The reason I bring ADT in to this with such disgust is because of the way that they handled my case when approached by the BBB. Each time they said that they attempted to contact me but was unsuccessful. I have caller ID and an answering machine and at no time did they attempt to call me, although they continued to claim such. I told the BBB that I would provide phone records. Fact is nobody cares about this scam because I guess its legal. Buyer beware!
