Mile Kimball Company
Executives or Telephone Operators?

Miscellaneous

I write this to express my displeasure and utter disappointment as an employee (not to mention an executive) at Miles Kimball Company.

Despite holding the title as a leading catalog based sales company in the USA with annual revenues in millions, Miles Kimball Company lacks resources to employ temporary workers to answer phone calls and take phone orders in the customer service department during peak season.

The upcoming "May sales and clearance" saga is having all company employees (i mean EVERY ONE of them), from marketing, HR, IT, Accounts and Finance to managers and directors under go a week long training session to answer phones.

My question is, asking all top level employees (or any employee who was not hired for that specific task) to volunteer to help around the company during peak season is one thing. BUT making answering phone calls and taking orders MANDATORY (for 4 hrs daily on top of the regular 8 hour shift) with no compensation or remuneration has most employees up in flames.

Given the economic condition, what choice do we have BUT to work 12 hrs a day to get the same amount in pay?

What has me and a whole lot of colleagues flabbergasted is "WHAT KIND OF COMPANY" stoops to the level of having it's executives answer phone calls when they could be better utilizing their time to make profits rather than selling goods at 80% discount!!!
