Clean Water Action
Pretends you are a member to trick you into making a "repeat" donation

We received a call at 8:54 PM (waking our young children) from Clean Water Action. The woman on the phone claimed that we were members of their organization who had supported them in the past. She demanded to know how much we were going to give this year.

We have never heard of this organization (although it appears to be legit) and have no interest now (or ever) in supporting it. We have never been and never will be "members."

A follow up call to the organization revealed that they use lists obtained from "affinity marketing relationships" and refer to "membership" as someone who supports any one of the "affinity marketing relationships."

Sneaky approach and will cause us to now carefully research the privacy policy of any and all charities who hit us up for cash.
