ALW Sourcing Almost Daily Calls In The Last Month

They started up about four weeks ago with calls almost every day. About every second or third call a voice mail message is left, sometimes using a man's voice, but most often it's a pleasant sounding woman with a British accent. (I'm in marketing and know that a British accent has been claimed to instill 'trust' in the caller.)

The message does clearly state that they are a debt collection company and they provide a reference number for me to use when I call back.

I don't call back.

ALW Sourcing's reputation both on this, and other consumer complaint sites, pegs them as a "zombie" debt collector, and a likely spin-off of NCO, a company with a long list of collection violations.in fact, here is a direct quote from ALW Sourcing's website home page: "During their successful careers inside one of the world's largest customer contact and collections companies, the principals of ALW Sourcing envisioned a new, nimble company."

Well, my advice is the same as echoed by virtually all consumer advocates. Send them a Cease and Desist letter by Certified Mail Return Receipt Requested.

Mine letter went out today and, with the hope it may be helpful to others, it's reproduced below. Copy and paste if you'd like:

Gentlemen:

I receive almost daily phone calls from the number referenced above. When a voice mail message is left it identifies your organization as a debt collection company.

I do not accept debt collection phone calls, nor do I acknowledge that I have any outstanding debt owed to you. If you are claiming that any such debt exists, then I must insist that you provide valid, documented written evidence of same by mail to me at the above address. This written evidence must include:

— What the money you claim I owe is for
— Explain and show me how you calculated what you claim I owe
— Provide me with copies of any papers that show I agreed to pay what you claim I owe
— Provide a verification or copy of any judgment if applicable
— Identify the original creditor
— Prove the Statute of Limitations has not expired on what you claim I owe
— Show me that you are licensed to collect in my state
— Provide me with your license numbers and Registered Agent

Pursuant to my rights under federal debt collection laws, I am requesting that, immediately on receipt of this letter, you cease and desist phone communication with me in relation to this and all other alleged debts you claim I owe.

I trust you will act on this request without delay. However, you are hereby notified that if you do not comply with this request, I will immediately file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission and both the South Carolina and Maryland Attorneys General. Further, if necessary, I will consult with my attorney and civil and criminal claims may be pursued.
