Miscellaneous

Yesterday I woke up at 9 am feeling confident and kind of excited. I had a second job interview for a customer service postion for some marketing company. I was really looking forward to having a real job instead of walking around a picking up after people all day.

I digress.

I got to the company and 10:45, right on time. There were other people waiting too. Cool I thought, compitetion. No big deal. Slowly, the interviews are paired with someone who already works there. Fabulous. I was paired with Mike, some thung life wannabe. Still, in my head I am trying to rationalize all this. "Maybe they deal with underpriviliged people.'

Mike and I go outside. He tells me we will be going to another office and that we are going to ride with three others from the company. So I get in the car with three other men. To be honest, I am feeling a bit scared now, they all look a bit rough and there were three of them and one of me. However, I need a job really bad so I go with the flow.

So, we hop on m-14 and start our long drive. About an hour later we end up in some neighborhood in Sico County. Wear is Sico County you ask? Good Question. I have no idea. Mike finally lets me in on what we are going to do today. He hand me a cupon book and tells me for the next eight hours or so we will be walking door to door selling them. His partners drop us off in some random a* neighborhood.

F*ck off. I was wearing a skirt, panty hose, and flats. It was cold. I didn't knwo what else to do so I figured I don't really have a choice so I'd be a team player.

By hour two my feet were swelling and numb. Not just a wee bit numb, I was compleatly unable to feel my feet. I told Mike I couldn't do this and I wanted to go back to the office. He tells me that isn't an option. After another hour of pleading, I got them to take me to meijers where I could purchase pants and socks.

At lunch Mike sits down and tries to explain how things work to me. He pulls out a pad of paper and begins to draw a pyramid. This is wear I lost it. I exclamied, "this is a f*cking pyramid scheme." The b*st*rd tried to tell me that it wasn't a pyramid scheme.
HE DREW A F*CKING PYRAMID!!!

I lost my cool. There I was screaming in Taco Bell like some lunatic. I had enough I told them they need to take me back and still they decline.

We go out on round two. My goal I was told was to go to atleast 100 hundred houses three times...

Around seven pm I was so cold and tired my legs were not working properly anymore. I begged and pleaded for them to take me back. I wasn't dressed properly for this.

A half hour later they agreed.in the car they offered for me to come back. All I could say is f*ck off.

The moral of my story is do a lot of research before you agree to do anything with a company.

The very least they could have done is be honest about the situation instead of telling me that I would be answering phones and doing paper work. Yes, they really said that. They also could have told me to dress warmly.

I am sure there are some people out there willing to do the job still. No reason to lie.

:-/ They wasted my time and to be honest I am feeling a bit depressed now.

I really needed a job.

Lesson learned.
