Door-to-door sales, entry level positions, junior executive to management

As a recent college grad, I have applied to literally hundreds of jobs across the US. Unfortunately, I have been contacted by several companies that have misrepresented themselves on websites like Monster and Career Builder. The job market is hard enough right now without these ridiculous "marketing and sales" scam companies taking advantage of young adults entering the workforce. Most of these "sales to management" schemes have been reported here, but I noticed CXN Inc was not. After interviewing with a business (KSLC) in Atlanta, I learned that most of these "entry level" positions listed on job sites really mean door-to-door sales. When the lady at CXN began to tell me about the company's direct sales marketing techniques and asked me if I was familiar with AT&T's U-Verse, I realized that this was the exact same thing I experienced in Atlanta. I explained to the lady from CXN that I was familiar with AT&T's U-Verse, and asked her if this was door-to-door sales. She responded by saying that they went where AT&T told them to go and that sometimes that did involve residential sales. U-Verse is a cable alternative service that is most certainly offered almost exclusively to residential areas. It's door-to-door sales, and it's 100 percent commission based. I feel dumb enough for falling for this once.

I ended my phone conversation with the lady from CXN by telling her that I had interviewed with a similar company selling the exact same product in Atlanta and was not interested in door-to-door sales. She was very interested in finding out the name of KSLC, and seemed caught off guard with my line of questioning.

If you are a recent grad and are reading this, please check out the websites of all the companies you apply to and investigate their legitimacy. I really hate that these places are out here taking advantage of young people, and I hope others can learn from my naivete. Good jobs are not easy to come by, and if something seems too good to be true... It probably is. Thank goodness complaint is here to help us out a bit.

Look up KSLC on usacomplaints.com for some others' experiences with companies like this. Mine was very much similar to theirs.
