Door to door magazine scam... Total RIPOFF!

I had a young lady come to my door a couple of nights ago while I was at home with my 3 yr old daughter. She started off telling me that it was a post graduate contest to win a trip and this year and the girls are going to win, as the boys have one the last 3 yrs. She said so many points will help her in getting closer to winning and asked me questions as what I do for a living and so on, which apparenlty would get her more points.
She seemed to be a very nice girl and very outgoing. I did try to say no, but she was very persistant and just kept telling me that I will help her so much if I did... So I bought the 1 yr subscription to the outdoor magazine (57.00) for my husband. I wrote a check, but she said if I went to the atm to get cash she would get more points. I told her no. She gave me stickers to put on my door so the boys wouldn't sell to me.

As soon as she left I did have a feeling that I had been had for. I called my husband and he had beleived it was harmless and was happy he was getting outdoor magazines!

A few days later I found out through the local police dept. That this was a scam and that these people had fled town fast. I immediatley put a stop payment on that check and contacted the number on my reciept. They lady I spoke with said she can assure me this is not a scam, I told her I don't care, I want to cancel my subscription, she was then rude and said I would have to fax or mail in my cancellation. So I did.

I feel so angry that there are people out there that would actually take advantage of people, especially these young kids. I have never had this happen to me before and you can bet it will never happen again. I will never buy anything from people selling door to door. Who knows what else they would try to take from you if you turned your head! I am so disgusted by these type of people out there.
