Scam artist steals from local tree guy

In the summer of 06 a local citizen asked for an estimate to take down various trees and over growth and grind stumps on her property. During the estimate process we both realized i had done work for her in the past. This particular customer < Carole: DeeDee" Reeves agreed to have me do the clearing and cutting and stump grinding in the designated area, for $975.00.

I came back within a week or so and did the job as intended, leaving all the debris at the curb for the city to pick up for NO CHARGE as agreed upon to save Ms. Reeves our hauling fee. Ms. Reeves was not home when we finished, so I came by later to pick up my check.

When she paid me I asked if all was done to her liking and she said yes and it looked so good and she couldn't wait to get started on some yard projects now that the heavy work was done. We shook hands and I left.

A few days after depositing her check the bank sent me a notice that her check did not go through because of a stop payment put on it.By this time I had already bounced all sorts off checks in my account bacause her money never made it into my account.

I called Ms. Reeves and told her what happend and she said she was clue less and she would check into it with the bank. Well days went by no word from her, when I made contact finally she said it must be the banks mistake and to contact them.

During this time she asked if i could do some more work for her while we waited on the bank to "Straighten this out". So lI did the other clearing job on the "OTHER" side of the property cut trees and other debris, leave it at the curb for city pickup, "NO stump grinding this time" and she paid me $400.00 for the job and the check went through and paid no problem.

Well, after trying a few more times to get my money (for the first job) and her lying and hiding when i came to her door and having her neighbors lie for her too, I stopped by one day after work to ask why she wouldn't pay and some one came to the door and said she was in Charlotte (which is three hours away). Then this person said to wait here on the porch for a few minutes. At this point I was fed up and called the police.

A few minuteas later Ms. Reeves shows up from Charlotte, (3 hr. Drive in a few minutes???) and I ask her if i can get paid for the work. She says its the banks mess up, to see them. I told her I went to the bank and only the account holder can put a stop payment on the check. At this point she said "Well, I don't want to pay you twice for the job."

I said me either I would just like to be paid once, without a bouncing check, and we could go to the bank RIGHT THEN and they would straighten this all out. She said she did NOT want to go to the bank. Weell to make a LONG story shorter, cops came i was out of luck toook her to court, when she started all her lies the judge said she did not want to hear all of my testimoney (Even after I paid my $100.00 for the judge to hear me.)

So in essence judge Shelby Jones of Onslow County is a ripoff too. And she knows it and doesn't care. PLEASE take me to court on this one either one of you, I dare you, but I know you wont because you both know I AM IN THE RIGHT!
