Did not honor agreement

I made a phone agreement in March with a First Data sales person for credit card services. I asked several times for the maximum charge in the event I didn't use the service for a month. I was assured each time it would be $35.00. I never signed any contract.
When I first noticed that not one but two amounts were taken out of my checking account for roughly $35.00 each I tried to find out what was going on. I spoke to several individuals on the phone trying to get this straightened out. The last individual I spoke to informed me that their sales person really had no legal standing and I had "agreed" to pay for lease of equipment. I knew there was no sense in continuing discussion. There were a number of additional fees that started to be included in the payments deducted from my checking account again beyond what I agreed upon including a fee for a monthly hard copy of my statement. I was also harassed about purchasing insurance on the equipment which I never agreed to lease.
I took steps to end the automatic transfer of funds. I have had to change my bank account, cell phone number, and I am continually harassed on my home phone number. I am sure that has impacted an otherwise spotless credit record. I would love to be part of a class action suit. Is there any government oversight concerning such fraud?
