Turned the PILOT light up on me and I got burned. Wealthy rip-offs

I am a decorative artist. I do faux finishes on the interior walls of homes.

I normally get paid half of the total up front and the other half when the job is finished. I did this with Curtis and Dawn Pilot. They paid me as expected, but when the job was almost finished, they added about $3000.00 more work. I didn't ask for half of this amount because I assumed I wouldn't have a problem.

To make a long story short, I only got paid for the original amount of work. They refused to even discuss it with me.

I finished the job in March and I still haven't been paid the balance and these people are wealthy.
