I received notice from Countrywide that a Federal lawsuit against them required that they pay for identity theft protection for 2 yrs... An employee of Countrywide had compromised a large number of customers information... I had an account with Equifax at the time so I called them and explained the deal. They happily closed my account (no refund on their part).
Now I see 99.95 charged on my credit card for "yearly renewal"... When they acknowledged their mistake last week, they assured me that they would remove the charge within 2 business days... Now, 3 business days later they say they are having computer problems... Call back. What a mess.
