Outdated prooducts

My wife and I stopped at this store to grab our kids some candy before we picked them up from grandma's. My wife purchased three candies, a bag of pretzels and 2 cokes for ourselves, except for the cokes they were all outdated. Of course we didnt know this until after we got to grandma's with it. My older son also purchased some items that were outdated. When we took them back the store manager said they were good for five years. I told her if she wanted to give her kids somthing that's been sitting on a shelf for five years that's fine, but I won't give it mine. She was very rude and not very accomodating to my complaint, even threw me out the store after I got loud with her about the kid issue. I thought i wasn't being unrealistic and had a calm manner at first until she made the five year comment. I know these stores frequently have outdated products, I just expected to be refunde with no problem.
