I received a check for $3,650 with a letter that says I was selected to participate in a paid Consumer Research Program as a "Mystery Shopper". The letter discusses different types of assignments with retail stores and Western Union. I am asked to cash the check and keep $300 for my pay, $100 for funds for shopping, $150 for service charges and $3,100 to be transferred to them via Western Union. Obviously, the check is counterfeit so my bank will make me responsible for covering it and they get their $3,100 free and clear!
