Miscellaneous

So I get a letter today. No return address, just my address and a yellow flower stamp from canada. I open it up, see its from Reader's Digest and am fixing to toss it when I notice what looks like an actual check for $970.00. I'm told this is to cover legal fee's that I will incure while collecting my "$127,092 dollars!!!" So, I start to think about the first thing I'm gonna buy... I call the number on the letter and ask for a "Carol Munro" first, she is out of the office. So I ask for a "Berry Beaver, " this happens to be the man I'm talking to. The man with a distinctive american name, yet barely understandable english... I tell him of my letter, I read the reference number at the top, he tells me I've won $127,092 dollars and asks would I like that over the next 25 years or a single lump payment? I ofcourse ask for the lump sum. He asks if I would want to keep this confidential for now or if its ok if they tell america of my winnings. I ask that it be kept confidential. So he tells me I should have gotten a check, and asks for how much. It tell him "970.00 dollars." He says "the first step is for me to cash this check and then give him a call immediately." The check must be deposited today, apparently time is of great concern. So we get off the phone and I'm thinking its a scam. So I figure I'll just call him back and tell him I've cashed the check and see what he says. So I do, he gets excited, puts me through to his "manager" who tells me that they will be sending my money via cashiers check and all their asking for is for me to cover the legal and processing fees, which come out to $780.00. This is to come from my $970.00 that they have provided and I get to keep the change. I am instructed to send this money via moneygram at my local walmart to a lady in Houston and call them as soon as the money is forwarded, at which point they will release my check. I figured if this was legit, and they needed $780 that bad, they could take it from my mountian of winnings. So heads up and hopefully nobody gets scammed by them this holiday season, money's tight as it is.
