This is a TOTAL scam, please DO NOT put this check in your account

Miscellaneous

This is a total scam.
I received this letter dated Nov. 10, along with a $3,900.00 cashiers check. Saying that I had won $39,000.00 in a Consumer's Reward Program Lottery. I called the number, 905-781-0587, a lady answered and asked for my claim number: 610220 and then told me to deposit it in my account and wait for 2 days and call back and they will give me further instructions on what to do. I asked her if this was a scam, she said, "Do you think I would be sitting here talking to you if it was?"

So be weary of this, I took the cashier's check to a bank (not mine) along with the letter and this is what they told me.

First of all its a cashiers check and all cashiers checks under $5,000.00 are instantly cashed, 1st mistake, the banks address is a P.O. Box, 2nd mistake, the zip code is not a New York, NY zip code, its a PA. Zip code, 3rd mistake,
they say, wait 2 days? Even if it wasnt a cashiers check, it would be a 5 day hold, 4th mistake.

The bank manager proceeded to tell me how this scam works: they want you to deposit it in your account, then YOU write them a check for the $3,900.00, and you never hear from them again. Just like that you are out $3,900.00. So PLEASE DO NOT DEPOSIT THIS CHECK IN YOUR ACCOUNT!

I hope someone out there who reads this can help shut these — DOWN!
Regards
