Customer service issue

My fiance', Mr. Robertson felt that he left his wallet w/a good sum of money at the check out stand while paying for his groceries. Welive only about 7min away from Kroger on Wrightsboro rd. After he brought in the groceries he noticed that he did not have his wallet. He turned right around went back to Kroger to find that Stephanie (cashier) had left for today. There was also a bagger assisting her. My fiance' did find him to ask if he had seen a wallet, which he replied "no". My fiance' asked for a manager to see if anyone had turned a blk wallet in (don't know her name but some foreign speaking woman) said no. He returned home, and I asked since no other shoppers were behind you at the check out line did anyone bother to call Stephanie to find out if indeed she put up a wallet, he said no. I then called kroger's, spoke w/the foreign speaking woman & she said that she had already told them that no one turned in a wallet. My point is here, that she was abrupt as if we were disrupting her and had no suggestions for a solution to this. I know you guys have camera's there and could check this out just for review. I'm not saying that the cashier took anything but it wouldn't cause a major disaster if someone checked. He had a few hundred dollars (which I always tell him to not carry) in that beat up wallet. I've been a kroger shopper since I turned eighteen yrs old, and now yes I'm forty-two. Couldn't there be a better way to handle this than to act like we are working your nerves. I've never personally had any problems before, everyone this includes the cashiers, meat dept, baggers and a couple of people that I met over the years in customer service-Tony being one, has always been super nice. What happened?
