I went on a trip to Bucharest with MRI. Before and during the trip they were extremely helpful.
I was introduced to a lawyer and finance specialist whilst on the trip.

However, although they are high pressure to get deals signed before you go back on the plane neither they nor their advisors had a good basic knowledge of the Romanian market and the contracts I was presented with.

I picked up an issue in the contract i was given to sign (the lawyer said just sign it) and thankfully wrote an addendum into its terms which if not satisfied would result in my deposit being returned.

All fine and well.

Subsequently, I was proven right on my contract concerns and did not proceed.

However, I have not got my money back - the solicitor originally said that the deposit had been passed to the developer. I checked with the developer and surprise surprise they never received it.

Now the lawyer wants fees deducted from the deposit that were never agreed.

The MRI proposition is that they parade the experts in front of you on the trip 'without obligation' until you sign up on the basis that they will likely then get the job of advising you (at above average fees!).

MRI customer service is non existent at the sign of any problem and so I am now left to pursue my own legal claim to get my deposit back. MRI put the advisors up and then accept no responsibility for their malpractice and do not even return calls or emails.

My advice

Don't go near MRI they are a business with a shiny outside and rotten core.
