Was in an out of state accident (I hit a pole with my 18 wheeler) and used PPL.
Was more than a month before I ever got to speak to a lawyer.
Me and the lawyer agreed that strategy would be, plead guilty to lesser charges and drop the accident and pay fine which is typical. No big deal.
Well, lawyer appeared for me and court date went by. Don't know what he did, but I ended up getting a letter stating I was found guilty on everything. Couldn't believe it.
Then, 2 weeks later I get a letter from my state Dept. Of Revenue, that my license was suspended due to "Hit 'n Run". I was never even charged with "Hit 'n Run", or convicted of it.
So, Eventually I get back in touch with my lawyer & he tells me to fax him the paperwork I got and that we'd appeal. Plus, he agreed it was false information. So, I do the fax and tried the next two weeks trying to get in touch of him again. All the while I'd been calling PPL to see even they could get him to call me.
Finally, 3 days after my appeal deadline, he calls me and states that he never returned any of my calls, because he didn't receive any of my faxes and assumed I didn't want to appeal.
Well, now I'm somehow totally convicted of something I didn't even do and wasn't even charged with. Lost my CDL for a year, lost my trucking job, everything.
How in the world does someone get convicted of something you're not even charged with?
Happens using PPL
