Not paid for work performed. Then Closed Up!

I provided 2 months of work for this company as an independent contractor and never received a paycheck. I got the run around for several weeks along with many promises of an immediate investigation and payment. Now the company has closed and will not respond to me. Not only have I not received work for payment received, BUT ALSO MY BANK HAS ASESSED ME FEES FOR THEIR BAD CHECKS.
