Fake advertisement, pretending to be from "the largest advertising agency" with a fake name too!

Another bait and switch ad from an unscrupulous staffing agency in NYC.

Here is the ad:

We are one of the LARGEST advertising agencies here in New York City and has a job available for a recent art school graduate in our new business department.

To qualify for this position you must have visual powerpoint samples as well as skills using Indesign - Photoshop and Illustrator - You should also have a print portfolio as well

I suspected from prior knowledge that this was a bait and switch ad, so I wrote the owner of the company (John McGrath) I suspected:

"Hello.
Does the advertisement listed below go to your firm? I have had an experience that was unprofessional. I would appreciate your letting me know and I am also contacting the CRAIGS LIST website for this regard."

No response to me so I wrote (John McGrath) again:

"Hello.
Would you let me know if I am incorrect about the job below? I have to send a letter to CRAIGS LIST so I would prefer to speak with the person in charge of being responsible for the posting below."

Then, I got a response from someone else (Peter Pop):

"Subject: I placed the Craigslist ad, Lorin!

Hi Lorin,

I got your email Are you looking for work?

Thanks,

Peter Pop

VP Creative Services

Vanguard Graphic Staffing

212-682-9800"

So now I have it confirmed that it was a bait and switch from the person who did it. There is no Studio Manager of New Business by that name, at least not that I can find, and definitely not having to do with this advertisement which was posted by a temp agency that lies to get candidate.

I have written John McGrath about this again, and am waiting to hear back, but I am going to report this behavior to the NYSA and the BBB.
