Ordered 'in stock' camera at good price. Now is continually backordered

Ordered an 'in stock' digital camera at a price somewhat cheaper than competitors. After receiving a prolonged sales pitch for additional merchandise, which I declined, I received notification the camera was back-ordered and asked if I wanted to cancel it. About 5 to 6 weeks later I was told it would be 4 more weeks but this would be the last delay and, do I want to cancel it? It is now 4 weeks later and guess what? It will be another 5 weeks but I can cancel it if I want.
I won't cancel this order because, luckily, I'm not in a rush to receive it. However, I wonder if I will ever receive it. This looks like a variation of bait-and-switch tactics to me and I can't believe it's legal. I'm going to investigate referring this situation to a legal source.
