BAD Landlord - Steals Security Deposit, Refuses to Maintain Property!

We had the unfortunate experience of leasing a home from Max Koeper (aka MGK Ventures, LLC). This man has unlawfully attempted to retain our entire $1300 security deposit to repaint the interior of his home because the paint is six years old and needs replacing. The third party property inspector that he hired informed him that the paint is "flat" and needs to be repainted - he is now trying to charge us, his former tenants, for this service. How can a clean family residing in a home for one year cause "flat paint"? We did not hang one picture on a wall, we did not paint any room in any way nor cause any damage in the form of holes, stains, graffiti or excessive wear.

The home was left in perfect, immaculate condition and this man is simply stealing from his former tenants! We paid our rent on time, in full every month (as we should) and stayed our entire 1 year lease, even though the home was a miserable, shoddily-constructed disaster in a lousy neighborhood. We gave him sixty days' notice (instead of the 30 days required by our lease) and allowed his new property management company to access the home for tours for prospective tenants (though not required to by our lease).

This man is a thief and should be ashamed of his unethical business practices. County records show that he purchased the home for well over $100,000 over it's current expected appraisal value - because he made a terrible investment, he wants to recoup his lost money out of the pockets of his responsible, honest and hard-working tenants. What a guy!

DO NOT RENT A HOME FROM MAX KOEPER! He's dishonest, cheap, he does not properly maintain his homes (expects tenants to pay for everything out of pocket!) and he will STEAL your security deposit. Beware!
