I was terminated when other people were given the opportunity to move to another machine

Miscellaneous

I started work on a Monday. I was in training on the day shift 7am to 3pm. My shift was going to be 3pm to 11pm Mon. Through Fridays after training.

The day I started, I met a guy that had trained on the same machines as I for two weeks and was being moved to another machine. He was new.
I was replacing one of the operators that was going to train for another machine. He had been with the company for a while.

On the ninth day, I was asked by the floor supervisor if I could follow him. I assumed it was to ask if I was ready to move to the 3 to 11 shift the following Monday, as that was the day the other operator was scheduled to train on the other machine. I wasn't ready and planned on telling them that. We went to the Human Resources office, where she handed me an envelope with my paycheck, and stated that I was being terminated effective immediately. "Things aren't working out." She stated. When I asked why, she stated feedback from sources. She wouldn't tell me anything except I could write any questions down and send them in to her. You bet I did.

I had 12 questions numbered on paper for her to respond to. She answered one along with another add on of, "We spend a lot of time and money to train our operators." And, "You weren't getting it." Well, I'm not going to play a game of mail tag with her on that matter.

Three different machines were put in front of me in 9 days time. Every single machine has to be set up first for each individual job. Then there comes the different adjustments to fine tune the job to specs. A LOT of adustments. Some even had my trainer stumped for a moment. I had only been there for 9 days. She'd been there for 25 plus years. She would leave me alone on the machine and start a whole different project on a different machine while I was training. I asked as many questions as I could.in the time I was there, other operators of the same machines made statements that it takes a year or more to be comfortable with the machines, and others stated that they made a lot of mistakes when they started and it was tough to pick up on.

My gripe is this. I was there for 9 days on 3 different machines. No one could learn those machines that fast in 9 days. They allowed the other guy to move to a different machine and train. They didn't offer me the same. I asked if I could move me to a different machine in the building just to keep a job. I would be willing to take a cut in pay. They said no. A woman on another machine was given the opportunity to move to a different job also due to the fact that she wasn't producing as much as they would like her to. She still works there. Now, less than two weeks later, I see they have ads on the internet for operators for small and large machines. No openings?

Don't work for this company. I feel they treat people unfairly.
