Charged $554.50 for a $70.00 check that bounced due to closed account. I was never notified of it until I was served with papers 1 year later

I am writing this for my daughter. She wrote a check to Girl Scouts of America for girl scout cookies that her daughter sold. From the time the check was written and cashed she left her husband and closed the checking account. The check was not cashed in a timely fashion. Her husband never notified her of any mail, phone messages from Girl Scouts that the check had not cleared. She was unaware of it until 1 year later when she was served with papers for the check by Kevin G Richards atty. She is a single mom not receiving child support and he gave her 2 days to pay $554.50 for a $70.00 check to the girl scouts. I had to pay it for her as she does not have that kind back up funds. The Girl Scouts of America should be ashamed of this type of robbery. Kevin G Richards should be ashamed of himself also. He certainly does not represent the culture in which in resides in Provo Ut. Going forward we will all be letting everyone we come in contact with about the upstanding behavior of the Girls Scouts of America and there will be no more cookies sold by my granddaughter.
