Miscellaneous

I got an e-mail stating I had been approved for a $150,000 mortgage and the money would be deposited "into my account". That is after I paid about $2500 in "insurance" fee's. I ignored the e-mail until I had time to research it.

I get a call from an "unknown" number on 6/27/08 from these people. (calling them a company would not be appropriate). I had many questions such as 'how did they get me "approved" for $150,000 mortgage without knowing which property I was going to buy' and 'how can a lender give a loan on a non-existing property that hasn't even been appraised?'

The red flags were off the charts from the first moment. So I asked questions. Mortgage officer certification number, business license number, legal name of the company, etc. Etc. So I can do research. Of course, the girl didn't know any of this and she would 'have to get back to me'. Sounds fishy? It is!

She kept putting me on hold and told me it was because of high call volume because it's "processing" day but I knew she was asking some guy questions in the background because I could hear him talking when she'd click over.

So I ask her what my recourse is in the event that I pay and I don't receive funding. She assured me I'd receive funding. YEA RIGHT, I'm sure. So I asked her how I can make my payment, visa, mastercard, amex, discover. I figured hell, they would be secured purchases because my bank would chargeback the amount if anything went wrong. NOPE! Guess what... I had to send the money... WESTERN UNION! Oooooh no! That's ALL I needed to hear.

She tried to explain that they are still "setting up a bank account". She also said that the investors don't want them "handling any money" so all the money goes straight to the investors. Ok. So you're telling me that an investor is going to deposit $150,000 into my account and he/she doesn't even have a bank account?

This was just reeking of SCAM!

This morning I decided to check them out. They have a basic little website. Well, let's see who this is registered to.

OOOH. The website was created June 14th? Why does their website say "copyright 2007"? How can you copyright something that doesn't even exist! Furthermore how can you "direct deposit" a mortgage into someones account? You're just going to take their word they are going to buy a house with the money?

So. Hopefully if anyone has gotten an e-mail from these crooks they'll do the same research as I. Or at least look em up at rip off report.

These people need to be publicly executed. They are the worst of all thieves. They don't have the guts to go rob a bank, or pull something that takes BALLS.instead they prey on the desperation of people who A) probably don't have the money to lose to begin with and B) are in a desperate situation because of the economy.

Luckily I am neither. I don't care about getting a mortgage. My credit is horrible and my landlord is being foreclosed on so I figured I might as well try to buy the house but I knew it was a long shot until I saved enough cash to just buy it outright! No sense in paying $450,000 for a $150,000 house anyway which is what you pay back on a 30 year loan!

Don't be foolish! Desperate times call for desperate measure but not stupid decisions!
