CAP Concepts
I Was One Of The Unlucky Ones - Do Not Let The Same Happen To You! Lying, Annoying, Cultish, and damn, damn persuasive

Miscellaneous

My goal was originally to enter law school right after college, but I did not have the money I needed so I needed a full time job. Out of desperation I applied to CAP Concepts because I liked their pitch and thought it might be of some interest. Let me describe my experience.

I went in for my first round interview around 3:00 one day. I was dressed very nicely in a well cut suit and a leather bound folder holding my resume. I went in to the interview with Armand who did in fact play for the Chargers but was hurt (supposedly). If he was big I would of heard of him.

The office was small, but then it again it was a growing company so I expected just that. Armand was well dressed and articulate; qualities I look for in management. He said he was looking for a select group to hire and chose me amongst a few others. I agreed to go for the second interview.

I was told I would by shadowing someone around and seeing how the company deals with clients and such so it enticed me. It turns out that instead I was harassing people that were very busy with two guys that were possibly more poorly dressed than felons. Professionals dealing with high ranking clients do not dress this way.

Anyways, I decided that maybe it was a mixup and decided to go in for a first day. I went in at 9 to fill in paperwork; luckily none of it was a sort of contract. But rather just tax forms and such. My "leader" claimed to have an MBA but hearing him talk and the job he said he had made me realize it was a load of crap. The people in the office were the biggest group of poorly dressed slobs I have ever seen. And the "Marketing Side" was standing under a tent for 9 hours selling coupons.

It hit me this weekend as to what they do. You go in expecting something really great, which they offer only through lots of hard work, which is understandable. However, they make you work 6 days a week on 100% commission for 10-12 hours per day which keeps you from being able to do anything else. So you are stuck. Luckily I have no real commitments as of right now and can get out of this scot-free.

I feel like an idiot. I am lucky however to be getting out of it now. This is scheme that will ruin you if you stay in it. Do not fall for it. It is a pyramid scheme.
