Sent a fraudulant check, claiming i won the lottery

Several days ago, I received a check in the mail claiming I had won third place in American Shoppers Sweepstakes held on March the fifth. To make a long story short, they wanted me to cash this check and send them over $2,000 dollars back to pay the taxes and then they would send me the rest of the money. I played it smart and called the bank and they told me no such account exist and that the check was fraud.
