We have been a customer of Progress Energy since they consumed this area from Florida Power. We have been a customer of Florida Power since 1967.
We became landlords of 2 properties in 1998. It is hard enough to have to spend the little money we have on repairing the damages created every 6-12 months from these renters. The renters usually leave about $1500 damage. Everything in these 2 houses is a NEGATIVE. We have never made a profit.
Since 1998 we have had to clean-up and remain many times. The city turns on the water for $25. Progress Energy did not even pay for the meter to be replaced when one renter cut the electric wires on the roof and took the meter. I had to evict a renter in Nov. I paid a connect fee of $25.
I live in Perry, Fl, When my mother died and we were going to clean the house (in Perry, Fl) sometime Jan. I was told I would have to put up a big deposit to clean up the house. I refused. My husband had a stroke and we live on limited income. My 2 rental one has been empty 6 months and the other barely pays taxes insurance.
My sister on the other hand who lives 4 hrs away had Progress Engery turn on the electricity without a deposit.
MY complaint. I need to repair some windows a repairman supposedly repaired Jan and I want to spray clean outside for painting.
Progress Energy said I had to have a desposit. They had already told me so because they had it on record I had been told about my Mother's house.
They also said, "IT WAS A FEDERAL LAW they had to collect a deposit."
Well, i got the bill today. The deposit is $335. All i have to do is finish everything before it is due on jun 23. I have not made 1 penny on that house in a year.
I am filing a complaint with the dividison of consumer services and a complain with the Public Service Commision.
PS I also paid a bill to them one month online. But they screwed up said I had signed up for online paying. I never pay online for anything unless I think the payment will not arrive on time. I screamed about that when they sent a notice for turn-off. I had been wondering where the bill was. I like Florida Power better than these people. They are so cheap they don't have local offices.
