So aside from producing public access TV, I substitute teach at the local schools as many of you may know. Well, today sucked ass.

Not because of the students (I know many of the kids, and they are really cool, some of them who got on my nerves at first became more like friends).

But the other day, I called the Substitute Teacher Service, and I told them that I didn't want to work for them anymore (because they don't pay enough) and then the next week (yesterday) they called me and begged me to take one more week-long assignment for an English teacher.

Then I show up today, tell the receptionist that I'm here, I take my keys, and go unlock the class. Everyone's happy because I'm the "cool" sub and it's going to be an easy-going last week. And then...

The security guard comes in, sheepishly tells me that I'm in the wrong class, then another sub walks in, says she drove 30 minutes to take the job, disrespects me in front of everyone, and that I'm wanted at the attendance office.

Then the receptionist lied to me, saying I never checked in—when I told her earlier that I was here—and she told me I was only getting paid for one block, not for the day, not for the week that I agreed to. What a farce.

Your taxes at work in this wonderful piece of crap we call "public education." Now I'm planning to lead a strike for higher wages for subs, whether or not I continue teaching.
