Moving scam and abuse

Moving with Nationwide Relocation Services and their subcontracted transportation company of Preferred Relocation was the WORST experience I have ever had!

From the start they seemed very friendly at Nationwide and gave me an estimate and things were off to a good start. From there when the move was put into the hands of Preferred Relocation it went on a nightmarish downward spiral.

They came a day earlier than they had initially told me they would be there, and gave me no choice in the manner. 2 men and a young boy (when I asked him he told me he was 14- *and it was a monday afternoon when any 14 year old boy should be in school) showed up and immediately began telling me all of the things that would cost me extra money and told me that none of my pressed wood furniture would be moveable. They could barely speak English and it would not surprise me in the least to find that they were illegal. These were things that had never been communicated to me before!

Having no choice in the manner I sucked it up and let them do what they needed to do. From the date of pickup my contract stated that my items should be arriving 7-10 days from that point. They arrived 11 days later.

When calling the company to find out my estimated delivery date they were abrasive, arrogant, ignorant, and unhelpful (mind you it takes all of my strength to maintain decent language and composure in writing this). They answered every question with disdain and arrogance, and many questions they didn't answer and simply bellowed "are you telling me how to do my job!" and hung up on me.

A move is a very difficult process for anyone, especially a young girl recently graduating from college and moving across the country. I spent my savings on a move only to be treated like garbage. When my things were delivered I was promptly yelled at for living on the third floor, having an official check and not a money order, and a variety of other things.

When I called the boss to resolve the issues he was of course as rude and arrogant as before and not helpful in the least. He doesn't care when he has his money, right? I spent most of the day in tears being yelled at for simply not knowing that my apartment would be on the third floor (my job moved me and provided me with nothing more than an address to move to essentially)

The one of the two movers that wasn't yelling at me was giving me creepy stares and calling me baby. Not only did I fear for my possessions and that they would be ruined but I feared for my well being.

Speaking with the owners is a dead end street and I know that I simply have to eat it and count my losses but for anyone reading this please please be aware that this is a scam. I paid 500 more than i was quoted and took abuse from day one. I will be contacting the BBB and filing as many reports as possible. Please be careful!
