Lottery scam letdown

I recieved an award notification telling me i had won 615,810 euros along with ref numbers and batch numbers and told to contact MR SOLOMAN MARTINS foreign operations manager, mayor security agent S. A ESPANA.
I was told to contact them so that the money could be processed. I phoned the number and spoke to a man who gave three options on how i could recieve the money. To travel to spain and collect, via my bank account or by cheque.

Wary of scams I would not give any details other than name and address which they already had. I was told these details would be faxed to a bank to organise a cheque and to ring back in an hour. I then rang B. T as i was suspious and was told the number was a spanish mobile costing 50pence a minute. This appeared odd as i would of expected a landline number for this kind of award.

I immediately checked on internet and found reports on this site, saving me the cost of another telephone call at least. However as a recovering cancer victim I feel disappointment that people can carry out such disheartening and disappointing scams playing on peoples hopes only to destroy them. Thank god that I only lost the cost of a phone call and my trust in human nature and did not become a victim of another cruel event.
