Wrote me a check on a closed account now i owe my bank

I was contacted by surveylot inc. To be a consumer service evaluator. I was given a check to evaluate certain stores and services along with my earnings of $300.25. My bank put a 3 day hold then informed me they would have to put a 7 day hold on the check. I was informed by my bank that the check was written on a closed account and I need to pay the $45.00 charge. I contacted surveylot inc. And was told to call back in an hour and he would find out the cause. I called back numerous times only to get a answering machine. I have spoken to them before I deposited the check and was assured this was legit. They always answered my calls until today after I confronted them with this bogus check. Please give me any advise possible to recoup at least my $45.00 bank charge and let everyone else out there know about this scam
