Worldmark - wyndham
Bait and Switch!

Miscellaneous

I was called by a Sally Still from Worldmark/Wyndham the caller ID showed Awards Center 801-495-0484. When I answered the phone, she said "Congratulations! You have won either a new Dodge Charger or $2500 cash. I said great how do I collect my prize, I was told to go to 2400 IH 35 S Suite 190 in Round Rock, Texas and after I listened to a 90 minute presentation I would receive my reward. I went to the location and they had my name and address, everything. They asked which prize I had won. I told them either the car or the cash. They said, well we don't have those prizes. I asked why not, and they said those prizes are given out by another company, that all they had for prizes was a trip or a stay in a hotel. I told them I wanted my car or my cash, I again was told that those prizes didn't exist. So I said why did you lie to me, then was told it was a contract company that called me and it must have been some mistake. When I said well, my attorney will be happy to make that decision they started backpedaling. I took out a pen and paper and started asking for names and phone numbers so my attorney could contact them, it was at that point that they ushered me to a back office and was told the project manager would be in shortly to talk to me. Well, the managers Chris Van Horn, Steven Gardner, and Craig Curtis verified everything again, and then told me "You aren't getting a car or $2500 cash" in no uncertain terms. They said the "drawing" for the car is only held once a year and "I didn't win it". I then told them that why did they give the expectation that I had won something that they didn't have. They told me that the car drawing is held at the end of the year and they haven't drawn for it yet. When I explained to these gentlemen that I had taken off work early, drove all the way over there with the expectation that I had won a car or cash, they offered me a trip to Vegas or a 3 night stay in one of their Wyndham properties and $100 if I wanted to sit through the 90 minute presentation. I told them I was very upset with this and wasn't going to sit through a presentation now. They offered me $50 in gas cards for my inconvenience, which I went ahead and accepted. The only thing they could say is we will get to the bottom of this... Definitely a Bait and Switch scam, and when they were caught with their pants down, they paid me off with gas cards. Could have been worse, I could have been duped by their presentation and bought into the whole thing, but I used better judgement and figured that since they lied about the prize, they might be lying about the other stuff too. Be Aware of this Rip Off Scam!!!
