Extreme sales tactics and "out the roof" pricing

My 22 yr old daughter, a single parent in Lincoln City, OR, met with a window replacement company whose first bid was $5000 and took the estimator all of 30 minutes. I recommended she keep her eyes open for competing bids to see if this price was indeed reasonable for Qulaity and craftsmanship.

She set a 7PM evening meeting with a telemarketer for Evans Glass, who contacted her, suspiciously soon after getting this first bid from a different window company. When they arrived, they worked my daughter over with hard sell tactics over for 3 and 1/2 hours on a Sunday night, knowing full well that she has a 2 yr old to mother and a job that starts early in the morning (the reason for the evening appointment to begin with).

Incredibly the bid was $26,000. BUT, if she bought "tonite" the price was only $15,000. The best part of this insulting bid was that it was "only good for this evening" and any future order would be $21,000. This is a house with only 12 windows or so. This should have been no "big deal" but they made it that way. My daughter, who is my partner in this house finally had to beg them to leave after numerous attempts at dropping clues that the meeting was over and saying "thanks but no thanks" many, many times.

People need to warned about the outrageous pricing and strong-armed tactics they use at Evans Glass. They are not to be trusted. They should be put out of business or at a minimum reminded that "fairness" and not rip-offs win the game in the long run. Let's have our newscasters and Better Busines Bureau take a close look at this compnay and find out how many others may have fallen prey to these sheisters.
