Many of you sound like day dreaming fools.

Their is a difference between fiction and fact. OPEC and other oil producing countries do not need to reduce prices and they cant meaningfully increase output.

Anyone who has done even the slightest bit of reading on this issue knows the term "peak oil" and that we are at or near it at the same time that the world consumes 85 million barrels of oil a year with expectations for it to rise to 120 million. Look it up and use some fact to support your opinions.

So, do the math, if we are at "peak oil" with most proven oil producing reserves already on the decline and most geologists predicting very few significant oil "finds" left then where will this oil come from?

It wont come, and that is the point. The rest of the world has caught up to us and is using as much oil as we do and the earth cant keep up. Period.

The answer by the way is not drilling offshore where their is at best a drop in the bucket. For you people that think this is the answer i have an 8 track tape factory to sell you. Its really close to home so i am sure you can turn it into a winner.

The answer is a wholesale switch to alternate non oil based forms of energy.

It is maddening that the same conversation keeps happening around oil prices, supply, demand, pollution, politics. Meanwhile the reality of tripled oil prices and its pollution is causing declining food output and rising prices around the world and people really starving.

This is a math problem. Stop rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. The show is over.

Put half this much energy, no pun intended, into researching alternate forms of energy, or illustrated another way, if we had invested half the 3 trillion spent in Iraq it would have been solved already.

But that is another story.

The answers already exist. What has been lacking has been the desire. Their is nothing like a cash strapped and pissed off American consumer to lead the charge on energy policy.in some bizarre way the earth might have solved the oil problem for us by running out of it and in so doing might also have helped itself heal and reverse global warming and pollution by forcing cleaner energy technologies through the american consumers diminished buying powe
