Wouldnt let me cancell membership after serious medical problems said that i had to keep paying $200.00 per month

Okay, i had a membership at La Fitness in phoenix AZ. They charged me $240.00 just for a starting fee then i come to find out that my friend was only charged $50.00 to start. I had my free session with a personal trainer which was included in my membership then we decused further sessions. I signed up for a year of personal training which was only one of two options that they gave me. Then they told me that i wasnt signing a contract and i could cancell any time. Because of medical problems that i now have i asked them about cancelling my secions because i was advised by my doctor not to do any more work outs. They then told me that since i signed a "contract" that i still had to pay for the sessions not to mention it costed 165 per month not including my membership fee of 35 per month.
