Taken work away without notice

I work for west and everything had been going good till today. I was trained for Eqip a new service that just started taking calls for converter boxes. I started last saturday and worked up until Wednesday while working my fulltime job. I need the extra money. Well tonight I planned on working 12hrs and the rest of the weekend also. Little did I know when I started to work that I wasn't able to they said they took me and also a lot of people off due to low volume of calls. But they didn't send us an email or take our time off and I wasn't able to take off any of the time I signed up for or sign up for another job inorder to make the money I planned on making. All the PAL could tell me was sorry. They had to make a decision fast and we had nothing to do with it. I told him they shouldn't treat employees like that, I understood it wasn't him, but you don't treat people like that and then say sorry. I work a regular job and work this on the weekends to make extra. This is to cover when I was laid off last year. I can't believe they did this.
