I was scammed! They didnt help me getting an extership nor did i ever get my diploma. Now I am getting bills from $9,000 I owe for a student load I dont remember applying for

I was told about a 6 month Medical Assistant program. I went in sign a few papers and they told me my start date.in the first few days I realized the program was self teach. I asked if there is a way I can drop and no one ever get back to me on that.
At the end of the program when it was time for me to get an externship they told me I had to find one myself. I couldnt belive it since when before I started they told me they will find me one.
When i was done my extern they told me I will get my diploma in the mail and till this day I have not got it. I called the school and now its closed down.
I started getting bills from Department of Education and when I call the mail office for Harrison they said they will take care of it since they first told me the goverment will pay for it. Now it seems that will am stuck with a $9,000 debt with no diploma.
After speaking the the other girls that went to school with me they all tell me the are getting bills and none of them can find jobs because they have no diplomas.
