They're threatening to send me to collections for cancelling trial magazine subscription Ripoff

I signed up for a trial Cookie magazine subscription. After reading the magazine, I was unimpressed and wrote "cancel" on the bill per their instructions. They continued sending bills for several months, which I ignored since I had already satisfied my obligation to them. A few weeks ago I received a bill threatening to send me to collections if I did not pay. I went to their web site and once again told them to cancel. Today I received yet another bill with a very unfriendly letter attached.
