Scam, Con, Lied, Ripped Off Ripoff

My wife informed me that a man came to the house today while she was outside with our son and a few neighbors. The man claimed to be selling magazine subscriptions for a company called AM Press Assoc.

He stated to my wife that he was trying to win a contest and had a shot at winning if he sold enough magazine subscriptions. He got my wife to purchase a subscription for 24.95. She paid him 12.50 in cash on the spot and filled out a reciept. She was told that she needed to send in another 12.45 to the PO Box listed on the top of the receipt.

Upon returning home from work, my wife informed me that she had purchased a magazine subscription from a college student trying to win a contest. She showed me the receipt and I immediately became suspicious. There was no phone number to call, no business address and it stated checks needed to be made out to cash. This had Scam written all over it.

I tried researching the company on the internet, however, they have no website. I came upon reports of other individuals who have been ripped off by this company. Most disturbing, I got to read the stories of parents whose kids were pulled into working for these criminals. This is a major scam! If I can be of any assistance in stopping this magazine cult, please let me know.
